“Love it, set it free and if it’s true love, it will come back to me.” It was a dream of mine as a child to be a photographer and developed naturally. I would dress up my sisters and make them pose for a “photography shoot”. I would take pictures of the countryside I was born and raised.

In college, I took a step further and learned the dynamics of the camera and the art of composition. I continued to shoot as I traveled abroad to Australia, Costa Rica, Belize and beyond. I realize that my love for photography has only grown stronger as I view the world through my camera. My family and I were invited to attend a wedding in a small village of Oaxaca in Southern Mexico. I was asked to photograph this tradition four-day wedding. It was an honor to be a part of such a celebration and capture the moments of every traditional dance, feast, and ceremony. It was then that I realized my true love; photographing people in celebration.

In every culture in every part of the world, the wedding day is the start of a lifelong adventure that comes and goes so quickly. The photographs are only part of the day that remains. As I look back at the photographs of the weddings I’ve attended, I still get excited. I can’t wait to pick up my camera and photograph the special day of a happy couple stepping into marriage.
